Why this matters

The OSSLT isn’t optional. Most students treat it like it is.

Failing the OSSLT doesn’t just hurt a grade — it holds up graduation. Students who fail must write again, and after two failed attempts they’re redirected to the OSSLC course.

The students who struggle aren’t struggling because they’re not smart. They’re struggling because nobody walked them through what the test actually looks like.

  • Passing is required to earn your OSSD — no diploma without it
  • Most students write it once in Grade 10 — preparation matters
  • The format is identical every year — the same skills, every time
  • With the right preparation, this test is very passable

High School Prep Academy exists because students don’t fail tests because they aren’t capable. They fail because they were moved forward without the right foundation.

This guide is what we wish every Grade 9–10 student in Ontario had access to — written the way it should be taught, not the way curriculum documents are written.

Yes. The guide is written specifically for the 2025–2026 OSSLT administration. It reflects the current two-session online format and covers all question types students will encounter this year.
Not at all. Most students write the OSSLT in Grade 10, but starting prep in Grade 9 gives significantly more time to address weak areas — especially writing and grammar. Earlier is always better.
This guide is ideal for students preparing to rewrite. It covers every testable skill systematically so students can identify exactly what they missed and fix it before their next attempt.
If you have any concerns about your purchase, just email adib@tutortoronto.ca and we’ll make it right.
